Request Network
Request Network
A decentralized network which allows anyone to request a payment where the recipient is able to pay in a secure way and all the information is stored in a decentralized authentic ledger.
This results in cheaper, easier, and more secure payments and allows for a wide range of automation possibilities on top of it. I collaborated with the Request team and their engaged online community to create a iOS prototype and accompanying mockups to educate potential users on future use cases of the app that’s currently in development. You can read my Medium article below to get more context on Request Network and the impact this design project had.

Process and My Involvement
For this project I was the lead designer and was involved in all stages of the design process from research to outputting design assets for digital marketing. I talked with the Request team in the early stages and we discussed their vision, personas, and I collaborated with some of their community engagement team members to perform research on the market and competition. I wrote a script for initial user interviews to validate the design decisions, and interviewed users.
After the initial research stage going over the white paper, I started by creating user flows based on some of the existing design systems in the web app documentation and started wire-framing. After the wireframes were done, I helped write a usability script which we tested with 30 users.
After analyzing the feedback from the usability tests I designed a hi-fidelity prototype and finally wrote a Medium article on my process in hopes of engaging the existing growing online community following the development of the project and getting them and newcomers to the project excited about future use cases of the mobile application.

Fidelity Evolution

What I would have done next
This project was focused mainly on persona building and feature ideation. I really wanted to achieve user flows for specific tasks that people might find themselves in on any given day that the Request App could help them out with. I think the community response to the iOS prototype showed that we achieved this. Going forward it would be imperative to iterate even further on the high fidelity prototype designs and work on ways to achieve better readability and usability through a serious focus on typography, font-weights, and text throughout. This is an app that could be confusing to someone using it for the first time so building out content through text that is educational but not cluttered is crucial to get key value propositions across and avoid amplifying frustrations for users.
